Rental of road plates for emergency intervention – construction of a temporary road to a damaged 400 kV line pole
In emergency situations, such as damage to key energy infrastructure elements, quick response and appropriate technical support are crucial. One of the latest challenges was the construction of a temporary road to allow access to the site of the 400 kV Rzeszów-Skawina-Tarnów line failure. Within just two days of placing the order, we began assembling almost a kilometer-long section of temporary road along with a work platform.
The failure occurred in a difficult-to-access area – the road led through a hillside with a slope reaching up to 20%. The logistical challenge was to ensure adequate surface stabilization that would allow safe transport of equipment, including a 350-ton crane. The project utilized rental road plates, which allowed for quick and effective preparation of the area for service operations.
Logistical challenges and the need for road plates
Due to the urgent nature of the investment and difficult terrain conditions, several key requirements had to be met:
- Providing a load-bearing and stable surface – the road had to withstand heavy loads, including a 350-ton crane.
- Ground protection – unstable soil required appropriate protection to prevent degradation under heavy equipment.
- Quick assembly and disassembly – due to the urgency of the work, rapid surface installation was necessary.
- Safe transport – the road led through a hill with a slope reaching 20%, requiring the selection of a high-traction surface.
To meet these requirements, different types of rental road plates were used depending on the terrain slope, ensuring stability and operational safety.
Wooden road plates Metrum
In areas with moderate slopes and lower load intensity, Metrum wooden plates were used. Their properties allowed for rapid surface hardening and the creation of a stable access route for lighter technical vehicles.

- good traction, even on sloped terrain,

Wooden road plates Strong
In areas requiring greater stabilization, particularly on steeper sections of the route, Strong road plates were used. Their solid construction enabled effective ground protection and maintaining heavy equipment in difficult terrain conditions.

- increased resistance to pressure and dynamic loads,
- enhanced stability compared to standard wooden plates,
- effective ground protection from deformation,
- usable in difficult terrain conditions.
Aluminum plates Alu Deck
For key sections of the route, where maximum stabilization was required, Alu Deck aluminum plates were used. Their exceptional load-bearing capacity and light weight allowed for effective surface protection under the heaviest machines, including a 350-ton crane.

- high durability with low weight,
- anti-slip surface, ensuring transport safety on slopes,
- quick and easy assembly, allowing for efficient project execution,
- resistance to weather conditions and intensive use.

Project outcomes – how did renting road plates impact the project progress?
Thanks to the appropriate selection of road plates and quick assembly, we managed to:
- create an almost kilometer-long temporary road in a short time,
- ensure safe access to the failure site, even in difficult terrain,
- protect the ground from damage, which helped avoid additional reclamation costs,
- allow access for heavy equipment, including a 350-ton crane,
- minimize the duration of the failure, which was crucial for the energy network operator.
In total, we delivered and installed 4500 m² of road plates, enabling the safe execution of the entire operation.
