At the solar farm, we prepared a temporary road for delivery vehicles and a crane with a lifting capacity of 200 tons. The task included ensuring access for unloading and installation of the transformer station. The heaviest element weighed 31 tons, and the transport had to reach the site over a gravelly, unpaved area between rows of panels.
Temporary road on a gravel surface
This time, the challenge wasn’t mud—it was driving heavy equipment over unpaved, gravelly ground. A designated route was needed to connect the entrance to the investment site with the transformer station installation area and to allow maneuvering for transport vehicles.
The pavement plan accounted for the access route, widening at turns, and space in the crane setup area. Such planning is important for temporary roads at solar farms, where the available space is limited by the existing installation.
Alu Deck HD – surfacing for deliveries and heavy equipment
To build the access route, we used Alu Deck HD aluminum road plates. The project assumed 192 plates, i.e., about 1,238 m² of temporary road surface.
A route for vehicle access was created using modular plates, with widenings in areas requiring additional space for maneuvering. The prepared access enabled transporting both components of the transformer substation and a mobile crane to the solar farm site.
Installation of a transformer substation with a 31-ton element
Our task was to provide access for deliveries and for the crane responsible for unloading and installing the substation. The heaviest element weighed 31 tons, so preparing the access route was a key part of the logistics for the entire operation.
The work was carried out safely, efficiently, and according to plan. This is another project demonstrating the use of modular roads in energy investments — also on dry, sandy ground.
Do you need access for installing a transformer substation?
We offer road plate rental with transport, installation, and dismantling. We prepare access routes for deliveries and heavy equipment, selecting a solution based on ground conditions and the scope of work.
Contact us and send the investment location, site plan, and information about the vehicles for which you need access.
