Technological Access for the Dismantling of the 400kV Line Mikułowa Świebodzice – Rental of Metrum Road Plates

The implementation of technological access for the dismantling of the 400kV Mikułowa – Świebodzice power line required a fast and reliable solution to enable safe movement of heavy equipment in the challenging terrain of Lower Silesia. The investment involved dismantling temporary power lines that operated during the construction of the target line. The work could only be carried out within strictly defined time windows, during the shutdown of the main line.

Within 10 days, approximately 2 km of access roads were constructed, providing stable access to the construction site for cranes, service vehicles, and machinery used in the dismantling of transmission infrastructure. The variable soil structure, high humidity, and limited ground load-bearing capacity excluded traditional reinforcement methods. Therefore, renting road plates was chosen as the only effective solution.

Temporary roads were constructed based on the Metrum plate system, creating a safe and functional technological access that met all logistical and operational requirements of the energy investment.

Access to high-voltage lines in difficult terrain – key challenges

The execution of works on 400kV lines involved ensuring:

  • stable surfaces for heavy equipment,

  • resistance to soft and heterogeneous ground,

  • continuous passability regardless of weather conditions,

  • safe maneuvering of machinery in the work zone.

The technological access had to be executed quickly, precisely, and without the risk of delays. In such conditions, renting road plates proved to be the optimal solution.

Metrum wooden road plates in the LE 400kV project

Only Metrum wooden road plates were used for the construction of the entire road infrastructure. They were used to create complete sections of temporary roads leading directly to the dismantling zones of power lines.

The Metrum system provided adequate load-bearing capacity and stability for vehicles and machinery operating in the work area. The plates effectively distributed the pressure on the ground, preventing the surface from collapsing and ruts from forming, which was crucial for maintaining smooth operations within a limited timeframe.

This solution allowed for quick assembly and disassembly of temporary roads while protecting the ground from damage and minimizing interference with the terrain.

Effects of using road plates in dismantling 400kV lines

Renting Metrum road plates brought tangible benefits:

  • stable technological access to each section of the line,

  • full passability for heavy equipment,

  • no downtime caused by ground conditions,

  • acceleration of project implementation,

  • preservation of the terrain structure in good condition.

The entire work proceeded smoothly, according to schedule, and maintaining high safety standards, which confirmed the effectiveness of this solution in energy investments.

Why renting road plates is effective for energy investments

In projects such as technological access for the dismantling of high-voltage lines, time, safety, and reliability are crucial. Renting road plates allows for the rapid creation of temporary roads that provide stability and full functionality even in difficult terrain.

This solution is particularly recommended for works related to transmission infrastructure, assembly, and dismantling of power poles, and construction of technological roads in areas with limited load-bearing capacity.
