Working platform for a 250t crane in Warsaw – Jagiellońska Street
Warsaw consistently presents interesting challenges. This time, the task was to prepare access and a working platform for a Demag AC250 crane on the premises of a new housing estate on Jagiellońska Street. Work at a height of nearly 50 meters, limited space between buildings, and ground requiring special protection.
A 250t crane needs a solid foundation
A 250-ton crane is not equipment that can simply be placed on any surface. The loads transferred by the support feet during the boom’s operation are enormous, and within a developed housing estate there is no room for trial and error. A technical design with the selection of layers for a specific ground and a specific crane was necessary—before the first delivery arrived.
Such a design was created. The result was a multi-layer platform built using six different plate systems.
What we used
The platform consisted of three layers of Metrum slabs — from the bottom: Metrum 6XL (600×90×20 cm), Metrum 5 (500×100×10 cm), and Metrum 3 (300×100×10 cm) — which together formed a stable, multi-layer base for the crane’s load. On top of them, steel plates sized 300×200×1 cm were laid, and the top layer was made of Alu Deck HD panels measuring 300×215×5 cm with a static load capacity of 200 t/m². Access to the platform was secured with Flex Deck made from LDPE plastic.
Total: 71 pcs of Metrum 6XL/5/3, 25 pcs of steel plates, 30 pcs of Alu Deck HD, and 90 pcs of Flex Deck.
Two days of assembly, one day of work
The entire setup was ready in two days. On the third day, the crane operated at a height of nearly 50 meters. With rented equipment of this class, the time needed to prepare the site directly translates into costs. A ready project before the transport arrives is not a detail — it’s a condition for efficient execution.
Another project in the center of Warsaw
The capital has its own rules — dense development, limited access, sensitive ground. We carry out such projects regularly here and know what to expect. If you’re planning crane work on an estate or in another demanding location — contact us. We’ll prepare the design and estimate quickly.
