After Gdańsk, it was time for Wrocław. Half of Sanah’s NA STADIONACH tour is already behind us, and once again we were responsible for securing the ground at one of the biggest music events in Poland.
This time, the project covered the pitch at the Wrocław stadium. To protect the surface, we used Heavy Deck panels and Alu Deck panels—systems designed for large outdoor events, stadium concerts, and mass gatherings.
Why securing a stadium pitch matters
A stadium concert is a huge load for the venue. The pitch is used not only by event attendees, but also by technical crews, stage equipment, structural elements, internal transport, and the event’s back-of-house operations. A surface that is normally prepared for sports events works under completely different conditions during a concert.
Without proper protection, the pitch can be damaged by pressure, moisture, heavy foot traffic, and technical transport. For the organizer, this means the risk of costly repairs, delays, and problems restoring the stadium to normal use.
That’s why, in such projects, choosing the right ground protection system is crucial—different for communication routes, different for technical zones, and yet another for areas intended for the public.
Event ground protection—more than just durability
At stadium events, simply covering the pitch isn’t enough. The panels must carry loads, provide stability, enable quick installation and dismantling, and at the same time minimize the impact on the natural surface.
In Wrocław, we used, among others, Heavy Deck panels that perform well under typical loads from the public. One of their key features is a partially light-, water-, and air-permeable structure. As a result, the grass beneath the panels has better conditions than with a fully sealed cover.
This is especially important when the protection must remain on the stadium for several days. Heavy Deck panels help reduce the risk of damaging the pitch and lower the need for replacing it after the event ends.
Heavy Deck and Alu Deck at the Wrocław stadium
During the Wrocław project, we installed two panel systems: Heavy Deck and Alu Deck. Each one served a different purpose and was selected for specific zones of the event.
We used Heavy Deck where it was crucial to protect the turf under heavy foot traffic while maintaining the best possible conditions for the grass. Alu Deck performed well in areas that required higher load capacity, stability, and resistance to more intensive use.
This combination of systems makes it possible to tailor the ground surface to the real conditions of the event instead of using a single solution across the entire area. This is especially important at stadiums: different loads occur in the fan/public area, in the technical back-of-house zone, and along the routes used by equipment vehicles.
We gained similar experience earlier during work at this venue. One such project was the project at Tarczyński Arena Wrocław, where temporary surfacing helped secure the site for demanding technical works.
An ecological, cost-effective and aesthetic solution
Heavy Deck event panels fit well with the needs of modern stadium facilities. They are a practical solution, but also more beneficial for the turf than classic, fully covering systems.
Their advantages are easy to summarize:
Ecological – they allow access to light, water, and air, supporting turf growth.
Cost-effective – they reduce the risk of expensive turf replacement after the event, even when the surface is used for several days.
Aesthetic – they create a level, stable, and well-organized surface for event participants.
At stadium concerts, it matters not only to protect the ground, but also to ensure audience comfort and smooth organization of the entire event space.
On-time installation – logistics in just a few days
Securing the turf at a stadium is not only about delivering panels. It also involves planning, transport, unloading, installation, dismantling, and adapting to the organizer’s schedule.
For events like these, time is one of the most important factors. The panels must be laid before the next technical teams enter, and after the concert they need to be dismantled quickly so the venue can return to normal operation.
The Tournée Sanah NA STADIONACH means repeating this process in consecutive cities, each time under different ground conditions and with a different layout of the venue. Such projects require not only good equipment, but also an efficient team, experience, and flexibility on site.
