During the construction of wind farms, it is crucial to ensure stable and safe surfaces for the transport and storage of turbine components. In the project carried out in Kotomierz, we used Strong wooden road plates, which served as temporary maneuvering areas and temporary roads, enabling the efficient movement of heavy equipment.
Challenges Related to Wind Turbine Transport
Wind turbines consist of huge and heavy components, such as blades, towers, and generators, which require precise transport and safe storage before assembly. The main challenges included:
- Ensuring ground bearing capacity – the need to stabilize the ground under heavy transports and cranes.
- Securing the storage area – eliminating the risk of surface subsidence and protecting components.
- Efficient assembly and disassembly of temporary roads – adapting infrastructure to a dynamically changing construction schedule.
Strong Plates – Ideal Solution for Demanding Conditions
For this project, we used Strong wooden road plates, which are distinguished by:
- High durability – resistance to very heavy loads, which was crucial for transporting turbines.
- Flexibility of use – they are suitable both as a transport surface and a maneuvering area.
- Ease of assembly and disassembly – this enabled quick adaptation of the construction site to the needs of the investment.
Thanks to the use of Strong plates, it was possible to create a stable surface that allowed for the safe transport and storage of wind turbine components.
Effects and Course of Implementation
In Kotomierz, we built temporary maneuvering areas and access roads, which enabled:
- Safe storage and transport of turbine components before assembly.
- Terrain stabilization, which helped avoid problems with ground subsidence.
- Efficient conduct of construction works and adapting infrastructure to the changing needs of the project.
After the construction was completed, the plates were easily removed, and the area was restored to its original state.
