Storing Power Plant Components at FW Donaborów – Metrum Road Plates in a New Role
Temporary roads are not the only application for our road plates. Metrum Wooden Road Plates have once again proven their versatility, this time in the Donaborów wind farm construction project. The Ol-Trans team used them for storing wind power plant components, which turned out to be an effective alternative to traditional reinforced concrete plates.
Logistical Challenges and the Need for Stable Storage
During the construction of the wind farm, organizing space for safely storing large and heavy components like turbine blades and other structural elements was a key aspect. The main challenges included:

- Better Ground Adaptation – wood responds better to terrain irregularities, allowing for a more stable ground without additional leveling.
- Various Sizes – available lengths of 3, 4, or 5 meters allowed optimal storage space utilization.
- Component Safety – the wooden surface better absorbs pressure, reducing the risk of damage to stored components.
Efficiency and Safety Thanks to Road Plates
Using Metrum plates at FW Donaborów allowed for:
- Stable and safe storage of turbine blades.
- Reduced costs and time needed for ground preparation.
- Protection of the ground from excessive load and damage.
After storage was completed, the plates were easily removed, and the area could be restored to its original state.
